I have retaliated with something I know well, i.e. a new design for the FIAT 126p ST! :D

The ST was the first-gen 126 from 1973-1984 and had what Polish 126 enthusiasts like to call the ‘cathedral’ style gauge cluster. I’ll be doing 2 more designs for the 126p as well, which are for its other main facelifts, but, for now, here is the first! :)

Fun fact...because Communism, there was more than one (mostly Eastern Bloc) company that produced this same gauge cluster for Fabryka Samochodów Maolitraowych...FSM for short...which was the company that had the license from FIAT to produce the 126p in Poland. FSM translates roughly to ‘Factory for small cars’ - definitely does what it says on the tin, haha!

Ganz (Hungary), Veglia (Italy), MMG AM (Hungary), Mera-Poltik (Poland) and a few others produced the cluster for the car, but the indicator light icon s and gauge face varied from manufacturer to manufacturer...the cluster was the same, they just looked different! Ganz, for example, used different indicator icons than Mera-Poltik. I went with the Mera-Poltik style in my design! :)

‘Maluch’ is the Polish nickname for the 126p and means ‘Little One’ or ‘Toddler’. The font I used for it is the factory graphic for later 126p EL/ELX cars which was located on the rear-right corer of the engine lid!

I’m slowly getting a little better at Inkscape! :)

I like the old type faces used in gauge clusters. They are always so much a product of their time.
